The collection is closely related to Wabi-Sabi and explores the effects of time. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of the beauty that is “imperfect impermanent, and incomplete“. To reveal this, we are implying not only the techniques and patters but also the organic shape of the object to form the unity of Wabi-Sabi.
Alongside oxidization and metal patination that is revealed with time we integrate similar technique to Kintsugi – ancient Japanese art form of repairing broken objects. Kintsugi treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. Inspired by this idea we have created a new casting method to repair cracked Jesmonite with metal or glass.
…….‘Landscape of Oxidation’ collection evolves with time.
